国連WFPは、飢餓と貧困をなくすことを使命とする国連唯一の食糧支援機関です。災害や紛争時の緊急支援、栄養状態の改善、学校給食の提供などを活動の柱に、毎年約80カ国で、女性や子どもなど8,000万人に食糧支援を行っています。
国連WFPの活動はすべて、各国の政府の拠出金や、企業・団体・個人などの寄付金でまかなわれています。日本は国連WFPの最大の支援国のひとつです。
食べることは、生きることの基本です。
飢餓の解決は平和への第一歩でもあります。
