生田緑地には、クヌギ・コナラを中心とした雑木林や、谷戸部の湿地、湧水等の貴重な自然資源が残されており、かつての里山環境や、周辺の農地、樹林等と一体となった美しい風景が今に引き継がれています｡
春には枡形山のサクラ、初夏にはハナショウブ、秋には美しい紅葉等、四季折々の自然を感じることができます。その自然を背景に、世界に誇る「岡本太郎美術館」「日本民家園」「伝統工芸館」「かわさき宙（そら）と緑の科学館」「藤子・F・不二雄ミュージアム」春と秋に開苑する「ばら苑」の施設があり、さまざまな楽しみ方ができる緑地です。
