コロンビアスポーツウェアカンパニーはアメリカ オレゴン州ポートランで1938年に設立。設立当初は、家族経営の小さな帽子問屋でしたが、今では世界最大規模のアウトドアウェアブランドに成長。
会社の代表はタフ・マザーの愛称で親しまれている会長のガート・ボイル（1924年生まれ）。そしてその息子ティム・ボイルが社長兼CEO（チーフ・エグゼクティブ・オフィサー）を務めています。
会長の情熱を反映して、コロンビアはアウトドアスピリットを持った多くの人のために、自社開発のテクノロジーを搭載した高機能でデザイン性に優れたアウトドアウェアを手頃な価格で提供しつづけています。
