当ＪＡは平成18年6月1日に旧ＪＡつるい、旧ＪＡ幌呂、旧ＪＡ白糠町、旧ＪＡおんべつの4ＪＡの合併により発足しました。北は阿寒連山、南は太平洋に囲まれ釧路湿原国立公園・阿寒国立公園に隣接する鶴居村、白糠町、釧路市音別町の3市町村にまたがり、大自然のふところに抱かれた地方です。内陸部は牧歌的な酪農地帯が広がり、農用馬を中心とした馬産も盛んなほか、めん羊なども見られ、また、極めて多くの野生のエゾシカの生息地でもあります。海岸部はタコ・シシャモ漁が有名で、山海の幸にも恵まれております。
